Who We Are - New Indo Canadian Centre

Gujarati Mandal of Calgary (GMC) is a long-established community society that supports Gujarati cultural, religious, educational, and social initiatives in Calgary through volunteer leadership and community programs. GMC is a joint owner of the New Indo Canadian Centre (NICC) and, together with CICCA, provides governance and stewardship to ensure NICC remains a sustainable, welcoming hub for community events, clubs, and services.

Calgary Indo Canadian Centre Association (CICCA) is a Calgary-based community association focused on serving the Indo-Canadian community through charitable and community-building activities, including the operation and oversight of community facilities and services. CICCA is a joint owner of NICC and works collaboratively with GMC to manage and operate the Centre, providing shared oversight, volunteer support, and responsible administration to keep NICC accessible and well-run for renters, members, and the broader community.

The New Indo Canadian Centre (NICC) is a welcoming and inclusive venue located in Calgary, offering flexible, affordable spaces for a wide range of private, corporate, cultural, religious, and community events. While founded to serve the Indo-Canadian community, NICC is open to all individuals and organizations, regardless of background, faith, or culture.

Our Objectives

  • Preserve and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Indo-Canadian community through meaningful programs and events.
  • Foster a sense of belonging and connection among community members.
  • Promote cross-cultural awareness and understanding within the broader public.
  • Provide a professional, neutral space where anyone can host their event—be it a wedding, workshop, ceremony, or celebration.

Our Mission

We are committed to making high-quality, accessible event spaces available to the public with ease and professionalism. With support from volunteers and donors, the New Indo Canadian Centre operates as a community-driven hub where people come together to share, learn, and celebrate.

NICC is operated and maintained by a dedicated team of volunteers who work passionately to ensure the Centre serves the needs of the community and general public. Their efforts help ensure that all who enter feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to host successful events.

Our amazing volunteers are the heart of NICC. They manage day-to-day operations, assist with event logistics, and ensure the Centre remains a vibrant, clean, and functional space.
